Green Lantern Corps #38 Review

The one and only Kilowog.

The one and only Kilowog.

This issue kicks off just after the end of the Sciencell riot. The Lantern’s are shocked at a new development beginning to unfold. The issue reveals stuff about certain characters that we always knew they could do, but never did. We see just how far some people will go to achieve a goal, whether their actions are right or wrong.

The writing makes it feel like your watching a movie, because it seems so much more natural, like the characters would actually say them instead of just being put in their mouth. It portrays emotion that any sentient human would feel, showing it in its pendulum form, as we all know. I think we all can connect with some of the emotions portrayed here, whether we like it or not.

The art gives off the movie-like feel, just like the writing does. Realistic point-of-views and surreal ones work together in harmony like Kurk and Spock. The tense moments make you feel like you’re a fly on the wall, watching a conversation you would NOT want to be involved in. I thought this was pretty interesting too:

Patrick Gleason leaving his mark.

Overall, taking into account the storyline, writing, and art, I would say this issue is fantastic. So fantastic I would give it a 9 OUT OF 10. But hey, my opinion doesn’t mean anything, yours does. Check it out, tell me what you think.
