Roundtable Thoughts: New Walking Dead Pic
The first full cast picture from AMC’s The Walking Dead was released recently and some of the authors of ACB sit down to discuss.
Geoff Arbuckle: Frank Darabont was a wonderful choice to get the series off the ground. He has such a great understanding of the impact of the series and the dramatic goldmine The Walking Dead presents. This picture just shows how much he loves the series and the characters involved. Everything I’ve seen to this point makes me believe this will be a truly special series to rival the popularity of True Blood and Battlestar Galactica. With each new nugget seen from the series, I get more and more excited. Rick and the gang look great!
Victor Kutsenok: Damn excited to see this series finally get cast and slated for air-time. Most characters look spot on but Andrew Lincoln looks a bit young for Rick’s character. Also I thought Carl was younger. Otherwise, the characters look great. This is one of the best written comics of the past decade and I hope the TV show is just as good.
T.A. Ewart: They may say that a picture’s worth a 1,000 words, but this Walking Dead image has left me flat. Based on the image alone, I wouldn’t have interest in the show, and based on what I know of the comic, I would think that the producers would want to get people involved from the onset. It also seems that they want to start the series similarly to the way the comic started, which I don’t know is a good thing. Many of the better stories came later on, and I’m hoping they don’t grind it out, just to be faithful to the comic.
John Eaton: So far I’d say it looks good. The zombie looks down right creepy which is always a plus. The cast doesn’t look exactly like the comic but as long as the acting is good it should be a really nice TV adaption. I’m really looking forward to this.
John Barringer: With each new picture I get more and more excited, and this should only confirm how closely the show is lining up with the comics so far. Long time readers will have no problem figuring out who each character is. I mean THATS Dale! And move over Claire from LOST, I’ve got a new TV crush (hello Andrea). I did picture Carl a little younger, but they still got a kid for the role and that’s whats important.
