Crossed: Family Values #5 Review
Were you disappointed by the lack of insanity last issue? Well don’t worry. This issue it back to business as usual. Today I will be reviewing Crossed:Family Values #5. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.
Crossed: Family Values #5
So let’s talk about the book. Pausing from their quest to rescue Joseph, their brother, Addy and company welcome a new member to the family as Hannah gives birth. Addy decides to leave the group and travel as fast as possible to get to Joseph. She is accompanied by her brother Matthew. Meanwhile, Joseph runs into some trouble of his own, his Crossed mother. By the time Addy and Matt arrive, it is too late for Joseph. Their only choice is to gun down everyone in their way. Unfortunately for them, they miss one and that one is determined to find them. And that’s the book. (Eight down, five to go for those keeping count. See you next issue folks)
So let’s talk opinions. We’re back to depravity. Not torture-porn depravity, mind you. Just simple disturbing depravity. This issue just made you cringe at every panel. Blatant nudity replaced hard core violence. But each page had something sick on it. And no matter how much you wanted to, you couldn’t look away. I still can’t get the newborn room visual with all of the deceased babies out of my mind. Poor Addy is starting to grow as a character. No more innocence left for her to lose. She has grown to fully understand and accept her situation. Life is pointless. People are pointless. Only survival matters. No more mercy. No more family ties. Just survive another day. (Especially after the cocktail she serves to Mom and brother Joseph) I don’t know if Crossed has a lesson behind it or if it’s just a way to push the envelope on what you can show in a comic book. Either way, for some reason, this is always a memorable read. Especially the images. (I still remember the last page of issue three and cringe every time I think about it.) So in a world where everything is insane, hope is your last measure of sanity? I think that’s total crap but I’m a huge cynic. Or is Karma a bitch and everyone gets what they deserve in the end? (Mommy is now what Daddy used to be, so who knows?) All I know is that there are two issues left and I’ll be there to welcome them. You should too. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
