UPDATE: Selina Kyle & Bane Cast In Batman 3
It’s all but confirmed that Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy will be playing Selina Kyle (Catwoman) and Bane in the third Batman movie from Chris Nolan, The Dark Knight Rises. Here are some quotes:
In a statement from the studio, Nolan said, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”
In addition, the studio announced Tom Hardy, who appeared in Nolan’s Oscar contender “Inception,” has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”
We’ll be sure to post some more thoughts on this later but off the top of my head the first thing I noticed is that WB seems to be intentional to cast Anne Hathaway as “Selina Kyle” and not “Catwoman.” Perhaps this is a clue as to how the character will be depicted in the movies. Tom Hardy’s casting as Bane is also surprising and will open up a floodgate of options on how the character could be handled in Chris Nolan’s much more “grounded” style.

As far as I’m concerned, Chris Nolan can do no wrong – so whatever he does with these characters is fine with me! I don’t even have a guess as to what the plot is going to be for this movie – and I don’t want to know, either – Dark Knight was more fun that way!
The preview pic I saw, she had no cat ears. I’m not a purist, nor do I have an anime fetish, but it just does not seem right to have a Catwoman without cat ears.
However, they are both great actors and I am sure their portrails will only add to the franchise.
