Stepping into the ring for the 2nd Fantasy Battle Tournament today is the berzerker mutant with the adamantium claws versus the vicious and violent leader of the Secret Six. The fans have been polled. Their votes have been recorded. Let the battle begin:
Wolverine Vs Catman
Darkness. Even with his enhanced mutant senses, all Wolverine can see or feel is darkness. That’s fine. Wolverine has never been afraid of the dark. Most of the time, the darkness is scared of him. Calmly sitting down, Wolverine begins to meditate. Years of training and life experiences allows him to be ready in such cases of uncertainty. Finding himself in a dark room after a night of drinking would be strange to most people, but not to Wolverine.
Suddenly, there is a burst of light. A voice speaks in his head. “Defeat your enemy and you live. Lose, and you die. Refuse to fight and I’ll kill you both.”
“The only person I’m killing is you.” growls Wolverine, jumping up to his feet.
His only response is a laugh and a sudden assault on his senses of sights and sounds. The rush of the wind flowing through the trees. The sound of leaves rustling in the wind. The smells of dry heat and dirt and death. Slowly, Wolverine looks around. He seems to be in the middle of a jungle, standing among a pack of dead lions. Is he losing his mind? Is this the work of Mastermind or another one of his telepathic enemies? Can’t a person pass out in his favorite bar without someone always trying to kill him? Before he has a chance to think, a flash of silver crosses his vision and the world goes dark as something claws the eyes out of his head. Wolverine lets out a scream of pain and rage.
“You think I need to see you to kill you Creed?” yells Wolverine, fighting down the pain while his healing factor repairs his eyes.
“I don’t know who Creed is, but I will be more than happy to kill you. And for killing my pack, I’ll make it slow and bloody.” says Catman, launching himself at Wolverine and slashing open his back.
Wolverine drops to the ground again, groaning in pain as the blood flows from his back onto the hot dirty jungle floor.
“Not Creed.” whispers Wolverine to himself. “Definitely not Creed. That savage would never care about a few dead lions. Who are you?” he asks to the air.
“Your executioner.” answers Catman with a sneer, tossing a catarang that slams into Wolverine’s chest, causing another gush of blood to stream from his body.
“You’re smart, I’ll give you that.” growls Wolverine, while slowly rising to his feet and tearing the catarang out of his chest and tossing it aside. “Attacked me from downwind so I wouldn’t smell ya. You move quiet enough so you definitely have some hunter training. Still, you did made one mistake though.”
“What’s that, dead man?” screams Catman as he sinks both of his clawed gauntlets into Wolverine’s guts.
With a scream of rage, Wolverine opens his fully healed eyes and looks at a stunned and completely surprised Catman.
“You didn’t finish me off when you have the chance.” says Wolverine with a smile, as he pops his adamantium claws into Catman’s stomach.
“You got within striking distance of an enemy.” says Wolverine, popping the second set of claws into Catman’s back, piercing his lung.
“And you just made me mad!” screams Wolverine, pulling out his claws and slamming them into Catman’s chest.
Slowly, the light fades from Catman’s eyes as he falls to the ground.
“If that is what you call an enemy, I’m not impressed.” Says Wolverine out loud. “Let’s hope you can do better, because when I find you, you will think that this man’s fate was a blessing. Now I need a beer to wash the stink of death off of me.”
The only answer he receives is a laugh and darkness.
