The Boys #58 Review

The last straw has fallen. The camel’s back is broken. There’s no going back now. Today I will be reviewing The Boys #58. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.
The Boys #58
So let’s talk about the book. The Boys continue to investigate the suspicious events surrounding Jack from Jupiter’s case. Some plots and lies are uncovered but nothing is made clear. With more questions than answers, the situation goes from bad to worse when the incriminating footage is leaked to the news. Jack is now ruined and he blames the Boys and he wants their heads on a plate. Meanwhile, Hughie and Annie’s situation continues to be complicated. Also, while reading the transcripts he found, Hughie discovers that Homelander is capable of immense levels of evil, especially in regards to Queen Maeve. Back at headquarters, Butcher and the Boys get ready for a confrontation with the Seven that they know is coming. Heading to the roof, they prepare to face them, as the Seven arrive. And that’s the book.
So let’s talk opinions. I definitely liked this issue more than the last one, even though it was another issue of nothing but talk. At least we’re finally getting somewhere. Hopefully, after the events of this issue, we can have some sort of confrontation and action show up next issue. This book has been severely lacking on action over the past 15 or so issues. What was good about this issue is the actual plot progression that occurred. We’re still not being told the entire story but we’re not standing still either. Everyone’s plans are beginning to unfold. Someone is pulling all of the strings and I’m not sure who Maybe its Butcher, who just wants to kill the Homelander. Maybe its Maeve, who can’t take it any more, especially after what Homelander did to her. Maybe its the Homelander himself, who is just sick of being on a leash. Either way, I hope we get some answers next issue, and not more bullshit. The art was pretty typical Boys fare. Clean, simple, and straightforward with no confusion as to what emotion people are thinking or feeling. Also, at least the nudity was tasteful this issue, and pretty hot, if you ask me. I was also extremely impressed with the first page with all of the famous comic book covers depicted in a pornographic style. That was hilarious. Can’t wait to see if next issue will finally be a payoff for months of nothing, or just another letdown. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
