Deadpool Max 2 #1 Review

Chapter two of Deadpool and Hydra Bob begins now. Max Style!! Today I will be reviewing Deadpool Max 2 #1. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.
Deadpool Max 2 #1
So let’s talk about the book. Picking up where chapter one left off, Deadpool and Hydra Bob are on the hunt for Lady Taskmaster and Hydra. They need her to reveal the truth about what happened in Cincinnati so Bob can stop running for his life. They find Taskmaster and her crew holding a church hostage. After some complete lack of planning, Deadpool and Bob assault the church head on. This leads to a huge battle with lots of casualties and eventually results in the complete destruction of the church. Bob, Deadpool and Taskmaster manage to flee the scene. She tells them that the only way to get evidence about the truth behind Cincinnati is to go after the people who sold the toxic gas to Hydra, Cable and Colleen, Bob’s ex girlfriend. And that’s the book.
So let’s talk opinions. You would think that the writers and editors at Marvel Studios would catch a hint and either cancel this pile of turds, or change it up in some way. You would hope that after a year of terrible reviews and total lack of good writing and art that a change in creative staff would occur. You would pray, if you’re a Deadpool fan, that something positive would happen to make this book tolerable. Unfortunately, you would be wrong on all fronts. This book was horrible. It was even worse than issue 12 of season one, and that was the worst book of the entire 12 issue run. Once again, we are treated to some completely non nonsensical plot filled with random outbursts by Deadpool that make no sense. The entire intro to the book was dumb beyond words. Having these two morons say Hydra over and over again is not only idiotic, but not funny. The whole monkey section was stupid and not funny. Bob and Wade’s conversations were boring. The priest and his double sided speech was a fail as well. I don’t know who the audience of this book is supposed to be, but it is definitely not a Max audience. Readers of Max books expect cursing, nudity and plenty of action. We barely had a good fight this issue. The plot made no sense. Deadpool’s narration was annoying because it was trying way too hard to be smart but it came off completely condescending. The art was, once again, horrible and disgusting. I’m afraid that I will not be doing any more reviews of this title from now on. It’s bad enough that I’m not buying the books. To actually waste 15 to 20 minutes of my life reading and taking notes in the store, time which I will never get back, time which can be more enrichingly spent picking my nose, is just something I cannot afford any more. I wish the people who keep on reading this crap the best of luck. I am no longer willing to subject myself to the pain and suffering. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
A COMIC BOOK BLOG RATING
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| some limited action | no humor. pathetic convoluted plot. sad art. still not even close to be worthy of being called a Max book |

I can’t decide if Marvel loves or hates Deadpool fans.
Let me be honest with you Doctor. I think they love us, because they are putting out as many Deadpool titles as they think we can stomach. The problem is that they fail when it comes to writing. It takes a rare type of sense of humor to really GET Deadpool. Nicieza got him. Way gets him. (Most of the time). Remender is finally starting to get him. Lapham just doesn’t get him, or just doesn’t get how to write a MAX book. I find this very surprising from the man who wrote Crossed:Family Values, one of the sickest, nastiest, in your face gore books of all time. If he could tap his inner Psycho, like he did for that series, I feel that this book would be a super hit. Oh well.
Even though they may not be telling him so, I think working with a property even as mainstream as Deadpool (compared to the rest of his work) is giving him pause. For this book to come into it’s own, he’s got to stop being carefull.
I just read issue #2 and it sucked balls too. I will not review it. I refuse to waste the words. This book should never have been created or named Deadpool Max. If they had just called it Hydra Bob Max, I wouldn’t be this pissed. Either way, I see nothing but disappointment here. Thanks for your comment.
