Comic Fans Finally Get To “Score” In May 2012 (Eh?) [Preview]

(Ok, horrible title, but still…) Since the end of Darwyn Cooke’s second adaptation of Donald E. Westlake’s (a.k.a. Richard Stark) Parker novel series, The Outfit, which teased “Parker will return in 2012″ there was little to no information on it’s release, until now. IDW Publishing’s Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall recently broke the news on his blog that Darwyn Cooke’s third Parker novel, The Score, would be arriving sooner than expected, May 2012.
The announcement included a one-page teaser/preview.
May is the earliest in a year one of the books in this series will be released; [in order] The Hunter was released July 2009 and The Outfit in October 2010. I think anyone who’s read these adaptions will agree, the sooner you can get your hands on this the better. Aside from the series winning Darwyn Cooke two Eisner Awards they are considered some of the best original graphical novels in the industry and are loved by just about anyone (personal favorites of my own).
If you like crime, mobsters, bad dudes, great art and the early 60′s than these are right down your alley.
Think Don Draper from Mad Men. Only with lots of guns and a trail of dead bodies. (I know, sounds great!)
The tease:
The Score will continue the story of career criminal Parker started in The Hunter and then The Outfit as a team of men will attempt to rob an entire town. If the past is the best indicator of the future than this is going to be one heck of a book.

Beautiful! I loved the first two volumes, and I expect great things from this one too. Darwyn Cooke is money in the bank.
