The Fearless #11

So let’s talk about the book. First a brief recap of issue #10, which I couldn’t review due to time issues. Sin gets all of the hammers and uses their energy to awaken the Serpents version of the Destroyer AKA the Final Sleeper. Luckily Valkyrie tracks them down to their base and she brought a small army of heroes with her. Onto this issue. The battle begins. All of the heroes attack and unleash all of their powers and energies against the Final Sleeper. However, the Sleeper, charged with the soul of Sin and the enrgies of the Worthy Hammers, cannot be stopped. Valkyrie manages to cut into the Sleeper, but no one else makes a dent. After smacking around the heroes, the Sleeper flies away to cause more damage. The heroes follow. When they catch up to the Sleeper, another battle erupts but the Sleeper unleashes its Fear power and cripples the opposition. Only Valkyrie manages to get in close, but is caught in the Sleeper’s grip and smashed against a wall, snapping her neck. Meanwhile, Crossbones approaches Dr. Strange and gives him all of the ancient tomes with the information on the Final Sleeper and Sin’s plans. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. I was pretty happy with this issue. It was awesome seeing an all out brawl and watching all of the heroes getting slapped aside like flies. I’ve always known that it would be Valkyrie versus Sin in the end and this battle was pretty cool too. I love the Fear power and how it affected everyone. I was kind of surprised that it had any effect on Hellstrom but I can live with the discrepancy. Crossbones’ betrayal came as a partial surprise since I kind of felt that he would turn on Sin after she told him her final plans at the end of issue #10. There really wasn’t much else happening here other than the major battle and the surprise “Snap” at the end. So now the question becomes Is Valkyrie dead and if she is, who will pick up her sword and kill the Final Sleeper? Also, if she’s not dead, will she be by the end of this series. In all honesty, as a B list character, I have no problem seeing her die. She’s never been that significant of a character and she can be easily replaced by a slew of other characters. I still think that Hellstrom will need to play a part in the end to stop the sleeper, or he is being set up to possibly be a major threat some time in the future. Onto the art. Consistent perfection once again. Great battle layouts and cool energy splashes. So one issue left and this awesome mini will be over. I for one am sad to see it go. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.

I have been a comic collector and reader for 25 years. My major comic love is all things Marvel with the X-Men being at the top. I also dabble in anything and everything that catches my eye. Guess that makes me the "all over the place" reviewer. A title which I claim with pride. I am a happily married man of almost 10 years living in Brooklyn, NY with my wife and two amazing boys. I hope you enjoy my opinions and I look forward to reading and responding to any comments or criticisms.
