Venom #13.4 Review

Venom and his team have died and gone to Hell, but that can’t stop them from saving the day!
Venom #13.4
So all our heroes have died but in typical comic fashion a plot point has brought them back to life the very next issue. That plot point was a deal with Mephisto and the whole last issue seemed like a waste once I was finished. After reading this issue things are definitely back on track and it makes the contents of last 2 parts seem almost completely pointless. The good points of the last 2 could have easily been streamlined into one issue making this into a tight 5 parter, rather than what will be a decent 6 parter with a week middle act. But lets move on to why this issue kicks some ass.
First off, we finally get to see Dr. Strange and Daimon Hellstrom fight! They throw us these 2 awesome characters early in but never have them do much other than play gate keeper. But now they get some action. Lady Rider Alejandra has been tricked into helping unleash Hell on earth and it has cost her the Spirit of Vengeance. Strange and Hellstrom keep it from spilling into the open world and force it to turn back towards Johnny Blaze who is still in the heart of battle. Strange continues to hold the line as Hell tries to break loose, but having the Son of Satan as your partner in a battle against Hell might not turn out like planned. Meanwhile our heroes have now been delivered back into the fight courtesy of Mephisto, and they must try again to save the day. This time with better art! The art on this book was great. Remender penned the first issue of this story and it felt like a very dense read with a lot going on, and was the best issue out of the bunch so far. This issue might be just as good. Remender helms this one as well and Medina pulls off the art beautifully. There is plenty going on in every page but the story telling is clear, dynamic, and wonderfully rendered. The majority of this part is a hunt for the Spirit of Vengeance. Making sure it doesn’t find it’s way into the wrong hands is key to winning the battle and boy does this lead to what has will be and exciting conclusion next issue. Tune in next week to read about the exciting conclusion to….Circle of Four!!!
