That’s right, AMC has confirmed the return of Merle Dixon. The last time we saw hin [for real] was back in season 1 after he cut off his own hand, then again in his brothers dream/vision/hallucination in season 2, episode 11 Chupacabra. The best bet of his whereabouts is probably some involvement with the governor, which would be an added layer of drama that wasn’t there in the comics.
Also, and I understand the irony in saying this in an announcement article (but come on, you’ll see this news somehow), I’m starting to wonder if they’re will be any suprises at all in Season 3; we’ve seen the prison, Michonne, the governor, and now the return of Merle.
I guess we’ll just have to trust that one guy, Robert Kirkman, he’s a pretty good writer.
So yeah, Merle is back.
