Tim Drake, what the heck is going to happen to you?

Battle for the Cowl ended and things turned out a little like I expected; Dick Grayson is Batman, Damian is Robin, and Jason Todd lives to cause more havoc in the next couple of weeks; however, something did surprise me and after giving Battle for the Cowl a second read I can honestly say that I can’t WAIT to see what happens to Tim Drake in Christopher Yost’s and Ramon Bach’s Red Robin.

I mean think about it; Tim Drake put on the Batman suit and almost beat Jason Todd to death, he then failed and ended up almost dying himself, got saved, and now Damian is our new Robin running around Gotham with a Dick Grayson-Batman. Do you think after all this that Tim is just going to come back to the cave and share the role of Robin with the one person he kinda hates the most (his fathers “real” son)?

Well, for now the answer is no, he’s going to be Red Robin for awhile but the mystery that keeps leaving me guessing is what’s going to happen after Red Robin? After Bruce comes back? Do you honestly think he’s going to come back as Robin after wearing the Batman cowl and then the Red Robin one? After Damian makes a name for himself as Robin? After Dick Grayson-Batman creates a new Bat-family (one that doesn’t include Tim)?

This is why I can’t wait for Red Robin to kick off, I’m dying to know what is going on in Tim’s head.

Call me crazy, but I’m beginning to ask myself, have we seen the last of Tim Drake as Robin? Crazier things have happened and if Damian is going to stay in the Batman universe and truly is Bruce Wayne’s son than I can’t see a better place for him, and the last thing I can see is Tim reluctantly sharing that ‘Robin’ role with him. And let’s face it, Tim isn’t a young understudy any more, he’s proven time and time again that he’s ready to step out from Batman’s shadow, and given the most recent events, kinda already has.

So DC, congrats, I’m hooked. I’m dying to know what’s going to be Tim’s fate at the end of all this, how he’ll handle the eventual return of Bruce Wayne, and what his role in the DC Universe will be when all this is over. I’ve got my crazy theories (Tim Drake in a Batman Beyond-type suit) and my not-so-crazy theories (Tim Drake stays as Red Robin) but ultimately it’s out of my hands and I just have to hope the end is as fun as the mystery.

So, any ideas on what’s going to happen to Robin #3?
