Green Lantern #48 Review

Green Lantern #48

Green Lantern #48

Yes, I know, it’s three weeks late, but at least it’s here. My review of Green Lantern #48. This issue we find ourselves witnessing the difficulty Hal and the other Corps leaders have at getting along with each other, as well as their search for the Black Lantern Corps’ Central Power Battery.

Geoff Johns writes the issue, and I have a feeling he particularly enjoyed this one. This issue does a great job at examining different characters, who they are, and what brought them there. Atrocitus is shown in a different light, while characters like Sinestro and Carol act like they always have. Johns is DC’s leading writer, evident by the fact that he writes 5 of the 10  best selling series of November.

This issue is pencilled by Doug Mahnke with inks by Mahnke, Christian Alamy and Tom Nguyen, with colors by Randy Mayor and Gabe Eltaeb. Mahnke’s darker style and rougher tone has been fitting Blackest Night excellently, although the colors this issue seem to be in a bad spot. I think that at the moment, it would be best to give the coloring job to Hi-Fi Designs, their colors seem to fit a Green Lantern title no matter what, even during Blackest Night.

Overall, a great issue with lots of perks and very few drawbacks. Definitely come back to AComicBookBlog for more Blackest Night coverage, and more!
