Green Lantern Corps #41 Review

Sorry for the delay in getting this review up, but anyway, here’s my review for Green Lantern Corps #41.Cover of Green Lantern Corps #41

This issue is written, as usual, by Peter J. Tomasi. Tomasi has been doing incredible work lately, made obvious by his run on the mini-series Blackest Night: Batman, which wrapped up last week, and on The Outsiders, which I wish I had the money to read. Anyway, Tomasi is quickly moving up the rankings for my favorite writers, especially if you add in the fact that he was one of the writers (Along with the obvious Geoff Johns) that got me so hooked on the Green Lantern titles. Keep up the good work Tomasi.
The task of penciling this issue went, as usual, to Patrick Gleason, who is already at the top of my list of pencilers, while the inking went to the combo of Rebecca Buchman, Keith Champagne and Tom Nguyen, with the color done by Randy Mayor with Gabe Eltaeb. I think this group of people doing these specific jobs on this title is brilliant. The inks and colors fit together so flawlessly, it’s almost agonizing when I think of how I want to do work better then this someday, because it makes it seem impossible.
The story in this issue is awesome, due partly because of it being a Blackest Night tie-in issue, making it part of Geoff Johns’ brainchild. It sounds weird, but I can’t wait to see what GLC has to bring after BN, because I’m really hoping it can measure up. GLC has done a great job accompanying the main GL title while still remaining it’s own title and bringing it’s own stories and situations into the DCU, and I really hope it can continue on its path.

Anyway, that’s how I would rank this issue, make sure to pick it up if you haven’t already, and watch closely for the way it fits into BN as a whole. You might be surprised at it’s level of involvement.
