Ms. Marvel #48 Review

Ms. Marvel #48

Ms. Marvel #48

Ms. Marvel #48 – The end begins now.

This issue starts the final arc in Brian Reed’s Ms. Marvel series.  I’m so happy Sana Takeda will be joining him for this last arc.  Her art shines from start to finish.

The original Captain Marvel is showing up at different Church of Hala locations and causing some damage.  He is trying to draw Ms. Marvel out, but not all is what it seems.  This Captain Marvel is an imposter.  He’s not even a guy.  He’s Mystique.  Ms. Marvel is led to a secluded Idaho town where a man who is believed to be Mystique’s current disguise lives.  Ms. Marvel confronts him and the issue ends with a big bang.

Not only is this issue pretty to look at, but it’s nicely paced.  Reed has been brilliant from the very beginning.  I can’t say enough about what he’s done for a character who really deserved the chance to shine in her own series.  It was only logical to make sure Ms. Marvel had a solid solo run since she’s been a major member of the Avengers for the last five years or so.  Mr. Reed, you’ve done a great job and piloted a fantastic series.  I just wish it didn’t have to end.  This is one series that I’ll be sad to see leave the stands.  I’m not sure as of yet why #50 is the last issue, but if it is because sales are down, that’s a real shame.

A COMIC BOOK BLOG RATING

ProsCons
As good as Brian Reed is at writing this character, Sana Takeda steals the show with gorgeous art that I could stare at for hours. There are only 2 issues left in a great series.
