DC Comics recently announced their “second wave” of titles as a continued edition to their New 52 initiative, which of course means that six titles have to be replaced. The new series will start in May and the replaced series will end in April with their eighth issue.
Speculation of this move has existed since the the titles first started to be announced and it was obvious that some could probably not carry an ongoing series.
Speculate no more.
Unless you want to speculate the “Third Wave.” Then speculate away.
That’s four “speculate(s)” in four sentences.

Some announcements made at what was probably the final New 52 comic-con panel before DC officially relaunches on August 31st will make the “relaunch week” even more interesting.

Like any DC character who’s been around for more than, say, ten years, there’s no simple answer to that question. Characters get complicated when reality folds and bends around them semi-regularly. Never the less, I will try and muddle through what should have been a simple history.

I’ve been a comic fan for a few decades now. Yes, decades. During most of my interest in comics, I’ve argued that DC was better than Marvel. Among the reasons I said this was that DC seemed to actually be willing to make changes that stuck, whereas Marvel went in circles.

Wow, Geoff Johns strikes again. That was a very entertaining episode that went a long way towards proving that you can get away with having costumed heroes on television, capes and all, without it looking cheesy or childish.
But even with that, I don’t think the episode was perfect. Now, I think we all know what the episode’s good points were, so I’m going to play Devil’s Advocate for a moment and go over all the stuff I didn’t like first, before moving on to the stuff I did.

Technically, this is Terra III, but that’s actually part of the series- straightening out the rather convoluted history of this name. The series is by Justin Gray, Jimmy Palmotti (writers), and Amanda Conner (pencils). Conner has gone on to provide the art for the currently running Power Girl series, and I rather like her nice clean lines and very clear art.

This assortment was Flash (classic Barry Allen), Aquaman (classic version), the Creeper, and Black Lightning. Now, I will say I did not get the Flash and Aquaman figures (let me get my one complaint out of the way, once again, how many versions of the same heroes do we need?), but the detail and faithfulness to the classic versions was fantastic.

These books reprint old and impossible to afford DC Comics that many of us have never seen nor ever would have without their release. They are in an easy to read format with a nice cover design and are lovingly reprinted in colour, unlike the Showcase Present Series (I do not buy them because of the black and white format). Not only that, the books are cheap enough for anyone to buy and hopefully will be in print for a long time.
