With 2012 being a distant memory we sit back and reflect on some of the more notable villains of last year. The rankings were based purely on how much of a “wow” factor they were able to generate when introduced last year and keep in mind many still have story their lines running well into 2013.
Oh, and the spoiler cup runneth over.

Movie man Guillermo Del Toro recently discussed a project he’s working on with DC Comics, Dark Universe, which will focus on the darker less “capes and cowls” portion of the universe, characters such as Swamp Thing and Constantine. And it seems as if there is discussion about more than just a single movie.

We’ve discussed the The New 52 quite a bit already but now that the 1-year mark has come and gone the temptation to get together and ramble was too great. Similar to our 6-months in conversation I asked all the authors, “So…now that it’s been a year how’s the New 52 going so far?” And again, the response were pretty polarizing…

So a while back, I wrote a review of the first six issues of a bunch of the DC NU titles. For a quick recap, you can find those here:

So right off the bat, I must let you know that I am not a DC fan. I am a collector of 25+ years and 80% of my collection is Marvel. I do know some DC history and I always pick up the “events” from the amazing Crisis on Infinite Earths until the most recent load of camel dung Flashpoint. I know most if not all of the characters but not their history or personality quirks. With the DC Reboot, I, as a DC Noob, was given the rare opportunity to get in on what is supposed to be the ground floor of a new Universe. A fresh start into some of the greatest comic book characters ever created.

[Yup, were reviewing Swamp Thing now!]
After being exposed to Watchmen for the first time, I went on a quest to hunt down more of Alan Moore’s work. It lead me to his run on Swamp Thing, and since then the character has always appealed to me. Unfortunately other than Moore’s run I haven’t really enjoyed much of the work put out featuring the character. That changed recently with the newest run of Swamp Thing, and with 6 issues in, I’m having a blast.

What a year for DC. A universe-defining event in Flashpoint, wrapping up final issues, and the relaunching of an entire line of books gave fans one heck of a rollercoaster, and although were now well into DC’s “New 52″ the lasting impression from the titles that came before are still fresh in our minds (and in some cases will never leave). DC’s complete body of work in 2011 is unlike any year we’ve ever seen; still, everyone has a favorite…
Our favorite DC books category includes any comic book series from 2011; before or after the relaunch.
