Soldier Zero #4 Review

Soldier Zero #4

Soldier One vs Soldier Zero. Let the battle begin. Today I will be reviewing Soldier Zero #4. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

So let’s talk about the book. Soldier One battles Soldier Zero. The fight goes back and forth and is witnessed by the townspeople. Ultimately, it is Soldier Zero who comes out the victor, but before Soldier One falls, he sends out a signal for more Soldier Units to come and then commits suicide. This act makes the suit disappear, leaving only the now dead host body. This causes everyone to think that Soldier Zero killed the possessed cop on purpose. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. In my last review, I had written this book off. However, since I pre-order and am obligated to pick up two more issues, I decided to review it. While much better that the last three issues, this book still feels very weak to me. The fight scene, which took four issues to finally occur, was great. If this type of action was present in the first few issues, I might have not hated it as much. The writing is stronger this issue. No weak attempts at humor. No mislabeling of the alien armor and how it should talk. Good character development on both Stuart and his bond with the Soldier Zero armor. Nice opening for future plotlines. Good support character development. It didn’t feel like a waste of time. That being said, I really hope that the plot can be fleshed out a little bit faster. Answer some questions like what the hell is going on? Reveal an origin of the armor and why he’s considered a traitor. Basically, address the issues and add more action to get me interested. Otherwise, next issue will be my last. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.

I have been a comic collector and reader for 25 years. My major comic love is all things Marvel with the X-Men being at the top. I also dabble in anything and everything that catches my eye. Guess that makes me the "all over the place" reviewer. A title which I claim with pride. I am a happily married man of almost 10 years living in Brooklyn, NY with my wife and two amazing boys. I hope you enjoy my opinions and I look forward to reading and responding to any comments or criticisms.
