Dungeons And Dragons #8
So let’s talk about the book. Fell’s Five wake up in the Feywild and begin their journey to find a town or a place where they can get back to their own world. As they’re traveling, they see a Gnome fleeing for his life from some imps and decide to help. After some action and violence, the imps are killed and the gnome is saved. He tells them of the war between the giants and the eldarin and how the gnomes are the collateral damage. Adric is about to offer help when the gnome leads them into a trap. The party is quickly captured and about to be left for dead, when the camp is attacked by a displacer beast. Good thing the thief manages to free everyone. As Fell’s Five gets ready to battle the beast, it is blasted to pieces by Adric’s girlfriend’s nigh omnipotent father. And that’s the book.
So let’s talk opinions. How this book manages to keep it’s breakneck pace and maintain the action and excitement at such high levels is beyond me. This was another incredible issue. From a slow quiet start, it escalated into another non stop action packed issue. Also, with Bree back in the story, the humor was back as well. I love the way this book moves. It never gives you a chance to breathe as there is always one calamity or another always occurring to our heroes. This is what makes the comic so comparable to an actual game of Dungeons & Dragons and why this book is such a smashing success. The writing is not bad either. That gnome was hilarious as is most of the conversations involving Khal. Sarcasm works for me as well as humor. The art was stupendous as well this issue. Once again we are greeted with big colorful images and great action sequences. The displacer beast looked amazing as did the alligator. The panels are incredibly detailed. Everything about this book is perfect. I can’t wait to see the conversation next issue between Adric and his woman’s uber powerful father. If you’re not reading this book, you’re definitely missing out on greatness. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
