Darkwing Duck #14 Review

Darkwing runs for mayor and meets his newest foe Cat-Tankerous! Wow, that’s bad enough to be one of MY puns….
Darkwing Duck #14
As Goslyn predicted last issue, Darkwing’s run for mayor is not gong well. His press conference (he does love attention) is interrupted by yet another new villain, the armored Cat-Tankerous. As DW runs off to try and save the day, a “Webra Walters.” a newscaster, interviews Constance A Denton, who is running against Darkwing. She even brings up the old arguement used in Batman stories so many times- is Darkwing causing the crimes he fights by his presence and reputation?
Cat-Tankerous’ suit seems unbeatable, as both DW and Launchpad run out of tricks against it, and huge property damage is done throughout the city. In the end, the villain ends up being a schoolmate of Goslyn’s who was trying to impress her. There’s an amusing scene of DW holding up the small kitten, who says “I can haz destruction?”
It seems that Mortimer (the kitty) had been pining after Goylsn for a while and saw her change in her short lived career as Gosmo-Duck. When his own attempt to make an armored suit failed, he was given this new armor by an unknown benefactor who left a note suggesting what he should do. Which is somewhat like what happened last issue with One-Shot. With the villain defeated and the commentators already critiquing DW, we see a masked, but clearly female, figure, saying she will make sure he loses everything. Disturbingly, she calls him “Dark,” which is what Morgana always calls Darkwing. I wonder if whatever happened to her when she vanished has turned her against her former beau. Or if she had a sister. At the end of the issue, DW returns to his conference, but the ever fickle crowd has turned again, and is now supporting Launchpad for mayor. This should get interesting.
What I liked and what I didn’t:
As ever, fun and weird action with Darkwing and company. I kinda hope I’m wrong about the villain being Morgana, but it does kind of fit and she looks about right. The Barbara Walters parody was great, as was the lol catz reference. And, it should be interesting to see what happens next with the mayoral race.
I still miss Morgana, and I hope they don’t turn DW and LP against each other. Aside from that, no complaints.
