Uncanny X-Men #541 Review

The X-Men try to stop the Juggernaut. Good Freaking Luck!!!! Today I will be reviewing Uncanny X-Men #541 . Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Uncanny X-Men #541

So let’s talk about the book. Cyclops executes his plan of attack against the Worthy Juggernaut. Sending in wave after wave of various teams of X-Men, Cyclops manages to weaken the Juggernaut’s helmet. Then, after Hope mimics the powers of almost every other mutant around her, she attacks and is able to rip the helmet off. With her opening presented to her, Emma attacks psychically and tries to shut down the Juggernaut’s brain. Too bad he is possessed by the powers of the Serpent and manages to not only fend off her attack but shut her down as well, causing all mental links to be turned off. Juggernaut’s minion gives Cyclops and the mayor a choice. The X-Men or San Francisco. Choose which one the Juggernaut will destroy. And that’s the book.

So let’s talk opinions. Let’s get ready to rumble. I knew the X-Men would be going for the old mind blast approach and I knew they would fail. The attempts, however were really cool. Colossus smashing, Iceman freezing and Magneto…..magnetizing.  All super cool. I love Hope’s splash image. She really is one VERY powerful cookie. The pacing this issue was incredible once again. Slowly building from a slow crawl to a fast run. Emma’s sarcasm causing well placed interludes to fill out the story. Yet in the end, all futile. The Juggernaut is unstoppable. Period. I just wish he could talk. Every other Worthy seems to have no problem hurling insults as he’s unleashing terror and destruction. I would love to hear what insults Cain has for his former friends and enemies. I have a feeling that Cyclops will need to do something very drastic to stop this monster. He will definitely choose to save San Francisco, being that he is supposed to be a hero. We’ll see. The art this issue was incredible as well. Huge, page filling images that fully capture the size of the monster the X-Men are facing. Great action sequences that really show how unstoppable the Juggernaut is. Let’s hope the action, excitement, and great storytelling continues. I’m just upset that this will be the last story arc before the completely unnecessary reboot coming in November. (Stupid, money grubbing, no respect for the fans, Marvel executives.) That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.

I have been a comic collector and reader for 25 years. My major comic love is all things Marvel with the X-Men being at the top. I also dabble in anything and everything that catches my eye. Guess that makes me the "all over the place" reviewer. A title which I claim with pride. I am a happily married man of almost 10 years living in Brooklyn, NY with my wife and two amazing boys. I hope you enjoy my opinions and I look forward to reading and responding to any comments or criticisms.
