Winter Soldier #3 Review

Tales of delicious exposition.
Winter Soldier #3
In issue 3, Bucky and Black Widow head out to warn Victor Von Doom of his impending frame-up at the hands of The Red Ghost and Lucia von Bardas via a Doom Bot, but he seems to know what’s coming. They break into the Latverian Embassy and make it to Doom and drop their message, but that’s where the issue ends.
Ed Brubaker does a wonderful job as always – Winter Soldier is a spy book of the highest order, but picking each issue up is like reading a book one chapter at a time once a month. It’s not ideal, but it’s so good that it’s worth the inconvenience. This particular issue illustrates my point a bit better than the first two because all we’re getting is exposition this time around, but in this graphic novel era that we live in, these sort of issues are going to drop in on us every once and a while.
I found the layout of this issue a lot easier to deal with and I’m enjoying Butch Guice’s art more and more with each passing issue and Lee Bermejo’s cover is out of this world.
There’s not much to say about this issue, but I expect it to really hit the fan next month. If you haven’t added Winter Soldier to your list, I’d hop on board.
