Wolverine #303 Review

Once upon a time in Japan, Wolverine killed some ninjas. The end. Today I will be reviewing Wolverine #303. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.
Wolverine #303
So let’s talk about the book. The final strikes in the Hand/Yakuza war begin. Wolverine hunts down the rest of the Hand ninja and kills them all. Meanwhile, the Silver Samurai wipes out the entire heads of the Yakuza families under Mystique’s watchful eye. All according to Azuma Goda’s plan. Now he’s the head of all of Japan’s crime. Unfortunately, Sabretooth has other ideas. Setting up Goda, he reveals his location to Wolverine, while convincing Lord Deathstrike to join him in a small business venture. Meanwhile, the new Silver Samurai returns to his home, only to find Amiko waiting for him. The two fight and break up. Amiko is about to be defeated when Yukio arrives and saves the day. Shingen manages to escape. He joins Sabretooth, Mystique, and Lord Deathstrike. They all head to a meeting of the remaining crime lords of Asia where they proceed to kill them all, making Sabretooth the new crime king of Asia. Also, Mystique sends some incriminating pictures to Wolverine’s girlfriend in the states, causing even more heartache for the hairy mutant. And that’s the book.
So let’s talk opinions. First of all, why the hell is Sabretooth wearing Storm’s headgear? Whose brilliant costume design idea was that? That person needs to be shot. And what’s with the Dragonball Z hair? That was just plain ugly. Other than that blatant attempt at cross-dressing, the art on this issue was awesome. Really great detail work on the buildings and backgrounds and characters. Moving on to the story. This issue was incredible. I really enjoyed all of the backstabbing and double crossing. It reminded me of a Tarantino movie. You never know who is on who’s side until the very end when the master plan is revealed. And what a master plan it is. Sabretooth is definitely getting some huge character growth this story arc. Mystique too. In fact, pretty much everyone in this story arc got some face time and growth. I’m really interested in reading what happens next. I want to know how Sabretooth managed to do what Daken couldn’t. He actually took his personal feelings and set them aside for the first time. That makes him extremely dangerous. He also has an extremely dangerous team around him. Lord Deathstrike, a deadly almost unstoppable assassin. Mystique, the perfect spy and inside person, not to mention a deadly killer in her own right who is virtually immortal. Lastly, the Silver Samurai, a tech master with a suit of deadly armor and a fortune to fund his future research. Sometime very soon, this foursome is going to cause a lot of trouble. I can’t wait to see it. Overall, this has been the best run on Wolverine by Jason Aaron to date. I hope the greatness continues. That’s my opinion folks. Take it or leave it.
