Captain America #13 Review

Part 3 of “Shock to the System” is not shocking at all.
Captain America #13
This title has certainly been playing it safe since its relaunch last year. That’s not to say it hasn’t been enjoyable, but Brubaker’s run is running out of steam. It’s time to take some chances pretty soon.
In Part 3 of “Shock to the System,” Captain America still doesn’t know who the new Scourge is, but Diamondback knows, and she reveals this information to Dugan once she wakes up. Cap is able to acquire some information about the Scourge’s “handler,” if you will, through interrogation of Jack Garrett, who we find attempting to flee the country at the beginning of the issue. In the issue’s most interesting sequence, we see Dunphy (who is the new Scourge, and formerly called D-Man), choking Henry Gyrich, but Gryich extracts a device from his pocket and puts Dunphy back under some sort of mind control. Dunphy proceeds to his next target, the Porcupine, who we saw Cap rescuing at the beginning of the arc.
This is a decent arc, but nothing special. Patch Zircher’s art dazzles in places, but in other places it’s very standard. I have no art compliants, just nothing outstanding.
Next month the arc concludes.
