Disney to buy Marvel Comics for $4 Billion
Newsarama, Yahoo! News, CNN.com, everyone is talking about the breaking news…the Walt Disney Company will be acquiring Marvel Comics for about $4 Billion dollars. This will put a lot of comic book’s greatest like the Fantastic Four and X-Men under the same umbrella as Mickey and Goofy. Shares of Marvel increased by 27% following the buy.
Wow.
Wow.
What does this mean for the future of Marvel Comics? I’m not quite sure yet. Marvel has always been highly acclaimed because they were their own company, having the same set of decision makers, unlike DC Comics which is a subsidairy of Warner Bros. A change like this could effect the change of command and in so effect little to every aspect of the company. My immediate guess; look at ESPN as an example. They are a Disney owned company yet opporate within their own little world with minor adjustments made here and there by the suits, I imagine a similar approach will be handled given the history and culture that comes with a company like Marvel.

Not sure if this is good news or not. I think there is a pretty good chance disney will ruin marvel.
